Kit - Weaving - Limited Edition "Mayuri" Silk Scarves by Anuradha Bhatia

Price: $174.95 - $182.94

LIMITED EDITION 8-Shaft, "Mayuri" Silk Scarves Weaving Kit

Anuradha Bhatia used the threading from the ever popular draft #728 (by Joan McCulloch) in Carol Strickler's "A Weavers' Book of 8-Shaft Patterns"  and interepted it as a peacock--both colors and treadling.

To give the impression of peacock feathers, Anu designed a combination of advancing, extended point, and point twill treadlings.

This project is featured in Handwoven Magazine, March/April 2020, pages 30-32.

To help you get started quickly, we created kits for you--you can purchase the "yarn only" (no draft included) or you can purchase the yarn with the Handwoven magazine issue which includes the draft and the instructions.

Your Limited Edition "Mayuri" Silk Scarves Kit** makes 2 lovely 100% silk scarves using our most popular 100% silk bombyx yarn.  Your kit includes a total of 269 g of dyed silk:

--1,173 yds (112g) of Kiku (20/2 spun silk yarn), color #207 "Peacock"
--621 yds (60g) of Kiku (20/2 spun silk yarn), color #9 "Emerald Dream"
--155 yds (15g) of Kiku (20/2 spun silk yarn), color #42 "Opera Velvet"
--1,218 yds (82g) of Gekko* (60/2x2 spun silk yarn), color #215 "Eucalyptus"

*please note--the scarf in the article used Taiyo, 30/2 silk for the weft.  We are currently of out stock on 30/2 and are substituting a lovely yarn Gekko...it's a cabled yarn--two strands of 60/2 plied together giving the equivalent grist of a 30/2 yarn.
**Kit does NOT include the size 3 Japanese seed beads used to embellish the fringe.

Optional:   Handwoven Magazine M/A 2020 with instruction on pages 30-32

Finished twill scarf is 8.5" wide by 70", PLUS 6-1/2" twisted fringe.

And, as a limited edition kit, once gone, these silk kits are retired forever!
