Silk Fusion -- Getting Started with Silk Fusion

Silk fusion is an amazing and lustrous “felt” or “paper” that is incredibly easy to create.  You make a "silk sandwich" by layering silk roving or silk hankies between fiberglass screen, then thoroughly wet it and then apply the textile medium.  Dry, remove screen, heat set and CREATE!

Silk fusion is the perfect beginning for no-sew appliqué designs, original art quilts or mixed media creations.

Silk fusion can be your canvas for any surface design technique you love—hand or machine stitching, stamping, printing, inking, or any number of surface design techniques.

For full information on how to create Silk Fusion, view Treenway Silks' "Silk How-To" section on Silk Fusion.  We also have offer an award–winning instructional DVD by founder Karen Selk and the fabulous book Silk Fusion by Tamara Leberer.

***Quilting Arts magazine, Feb/Mar 2019 issue has a fabulous Silk Fusion technique article on pages 18-22, by Tamara Leberer***

And it's easy to get started with the Silk Fusion Starter kit

We use and reccommend the JoSonja brand of Textile Medium as it allows the natural luster of the silk to shine through.  Other brands of textile medium can give a more matte finish--a personal choice, but we love the luscious sheen of silk and want it to show.

Please note that the "buy 2 get the third at half price" discount on silk roving is applied by a human (yours truly) when your silk is ready to mail, so you won't see it in your shopping cart when you check out.  If you prefer, you can place your order with a human (also yours truly) by calling our toll-free number 1.888.383 silk (7455)
