Kit - Weaving - "Mariner's Compass" Scarf Kit
LIMITED EDITION 8-Shaft, "Mariner's Compass" Silk-Blends Scarf Weaving Kit
Featured in WEFT Summer 2026 "Twill" issue is our"Mariner's Compass" scarf, a collaboration between Robin Wilton & Susan Du Bois.
This is an original network-drafted Twill on 8 shafts. The yarns used are skinny, so the design's motifs are a nice size.
KIT (two options):
Your Limited Edition "Mariner's Compass Scarf Kit includes your choice of yarn colors below (Make color selection in drop down box).
Please note, WEFT magazine uses a 3.5yard warp, which includes 27" of sampling/loom waste (above an beyond the 18" needed for fringe). You can make your warp shorter if you need less loom waste. Or you can weave your scarf longer.
Deciding which option to purchase? The Gokana in warp and weft is heavenly soft. The all natural Gokana/Yak has a lovely drape.
Option #1, as shown on the model in the magazine:
1,341 yds (86g) of Gokana (30/2 80% bombyx silk/20% Cashmere), color natural
857 yds (56g) of Silken Fog (30/2 55% bombyx silk/45% Yak), color natural
Option #2, as shown in the lower sample on page 101 in the magazine
1,341 yds (86g) of Gokana (30/2 80% bombyx silk/20% Cashmere), color natural
