Kit - Knitting - Golden Flower Shawl

Price: $53.30

Katrina King designed this lovely lace shawl from one skein of 100% silk Kiku, lace-weight, dyed color #303 Beehive Gold.

The pattern was published in Piecework September/October 2017 issue, p27-30.  Katrina's finished shawl weighs 62g.

Katrina designed a chrysanthemum flower motif, which she knitted with Kiku yarn, and “Kiku” means chrysanthemum in Japanese.  A perfect union of design and yarn!  The color Katrina selected looks like golden-bronze chrysanthemums that bloom every fall.

The silk is from the Bombyx mori silk worm, often referred to as "mulberry" silk.

You can purchase the Kiku yarn in color #303 Beehive Gold with or without the Piecework issue (see dropdown box).

If you would prefer another color for your shawl, you can order from our selection of Color Now! (already dyed) Kiku yarn here.

Or, to select the color you want for your silk dyed, go to ‘Dye My Order’  (dyeing will be extra charge, billed separately)  If questions, call us toll free 1.888.383.7455 (silk) or email

When winding into a ball, we recommend putting an empty paper towel cardboard tube (or something similar) over the center post of your ball winder (you can cut the tube to the height of the center post).  When finished winding, remove the yarn ball with the tube still in the center-this will prevent the center of the ball from collapsing (a collapsed center can create "bunching" which can lead to tangles).  Work the yarn from the outside of the ball.

There is a lot of yardage in one skein; if you prefer, we can wind onto a cone for you.  Order that separately, clicking here.

Color: #303 Beehive Cold

Yarn Type: Kiku

Yarn Name Meaning: Chrysanthemum (Japanese)

Thank you, Piecework magazine, for the photo of the shawl.
