Not the Montano Series – Threads

Likewise with the ribbon above, we have these leftover samples of threads from the development of the Montano Series that didn't make the final cut. The differences are subtle and you can probably figure out which colourways they ended up being.

All of the threads are Fine Cord reeled silk except for the middle thread in #13 which is 8/2 reeled silk.

They are not on properly labelled tags.

• Reeled or filament silk is the highest quality of silk thread.
• Fine Cord is a reeled silk and is shiny. It is equivalent to Buttonhole Twist. Because Fine Cord is tightly spun, it twists as you work with it. Hold your work up often and let the thread dangle and untwist itself.
• 8/2 is a reeled silk and is quite shiny. It is a looser twist for optimum sheen and is equivalent to #3 Perle Cotton.

(aka Ribbon Bits)

Over the years our hard working, totally reliable, always good natured but moreover super thrifty packager of silk threads and ribbons and other things, Judy, has accumulated quite a collection of Ribbon Bits. These bits range from 1 to 3 inches in length and so are not even suitable for stitching. However, they would be great to add to your silk fusion work, and needle felting plus other collage and mixed media projects for some vibrant colour and texture.

We have packaged them in bags of 5g each which are totally random in colour. Most ribbitz are 3.5mm (1/8") wide but there are a few others in 2mm and 7mm widths.

Each package contains 5g (.2oz).

Burmese Embellishments

Each 4" x 4½" embellishment is lavishly covered with bronze sequins, all hand sewn on stretched cloth in Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma).

Decorative stitching and beads give character to each of these six symbolic creatures:
tiger, horse, camel, dragon, elephant and peacock.

The embellished cloth is layered with handmade paper and backed with cotton to keep its shape. Each ornament comes with a written description of the history of the creature.
