Silk Ribbon

Our ribbons are woven using fine reeled silk which still has the sericin in it. This acts as a natural sizing. The threads are fine silk – there are 300 fine warp threads per inch. The ribbon is woven in plain weave, where the weft goes over one warp thread and under one warp thread all the way across.

Our ribbons are all hand-dyed.

These ribbons are on sale as they are either old packaging or we are overstocked! A great opportunity to try our silk ribbons and experiment with colour.

Each combination contains a total of 15 yards of ribbon:
two colours in 3.5mm widths (5 yards each) and
one colour in 7mm width (5 yards).

Burmese Embellishments

Each 4" x 4½" embellishment is lavishly covered with bronze sequins, all hand sewn on stretched cloth in Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma).

Decorative stitching and beads give character to each of these six symbolic creatures:
tiger, horse, camel, dragon, elephant and peacock.

The embellished cloth is layered with handmade paper and backed with cotton to keep its shape. Each ornament comes with a written description of the history of the creature.
