Caps are made from degummed cocoons that have been stretched into a cap shape over an arched bamboo slat. Ten cocoons are pulled over the frame to make one cap. Enough caps are stacked on top of each other until the pile weighs about 500 gm (1lb).

Our caps vary a bit in size--the average whole bell is 500g.  We charge by the gram, so if your cap is a bit lighter, you’ll pay a bit less and if your cap is a bit heavier, you’ll pay a bit more
