4 Shaft Weaving Kit

Adapted from Hand weaving patterns from Finland by HelViivi Merisalo; p28 #57 (turned), we find this kit especially fun as there is a different treadling for each of the two scarves.  

WEAVE STRUCTURE
Color & Weave uses both colors in the warp and the weft. As Color & Weave needs 2-shuttles, this can be a bit slower to weave, but the intricate design with just 4 shafts makes it one of my favorite techniques. 

Unlike Shadow Weave, which alternates Light & Dark in both the warp and the weft, this Color & Weave pattern has a different color sequence, using more dark yarn in the warp than the light. To be able to weave 2 scarves from 2 skeins,  we developed two different treadlings:
   scarf #1 (right) uses equal amounts of both light and dark yarns
   scarf #2 (left)  uses more of the light yarn than the dark yarn
Note--if you weave both scarves with the same treadling, you won't have enough silk!

KIT AND COLORS:
We were inspired to interpret our ‘Three of a Kind’ Color & Weave scarves draft in different color palettes--and loved the color combinations so much we just had to put together a few Limited Edition Kits for you to enjoy!

     --#7 Bachelor's Button & Natural White:  This medium-value blue paired with white is like a summer sky with clouds!  You can wear this combination all year!
     --#30 Flamingo & #301 Royal Purple:  this is one combo Charlotte used to weave our scarves.  Flamingo is a warm, pinky-orange-red which can look a bit "wow" by itself, but paired with cool, rich Royal Purple, it changes dramatically!
     --#46 Peony & #1 Midnight Blue:  the sophisticated red-violet Peony becomes even richer when paired with deep purple-navy.   
     --#18 Dragonfly & #214 Glacier:  this is the blue combo Charlotte wove a second set of scarves--love these blues together!
     --Black & white  this is such classic combination!

These two fabulous scarves are woven with two skeins of our most popular silk yarn, Kiku (100% Bombyx Spun Silk, 20/2).
